Run for community!

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is grateful to be an official beneficiary of several charity races in Newport County. Whether you prefer to join Team MLK as a runner or a sponsor, you are helping fight hunger, foster healthy communities, and deliver high-performing educational programs that are accessible to all.

Citizens Pell Bridge Run - August 30, 2026

Charlie Holder Sr. Memorial 5K & 10K May 8, 2027

The annual Charlie Holder Sr. Memorial Race is an amazing day of community fun and togetherness. Charlie Holder Sr. was a beloved Newport local with a passion for running. Every year, his family holds this race, honoring his legacy and the community he loved.

The race benefits the MLK Community Center and the Newport County YMCA in memory of Charlie. In 2026, the race raised $10,000 for both organizations to benefit Preschool scholarships at the MLK and Summer Camp scholarships at the YMCA.

There are options for everyone at this event. There’s a competitive run, a walk, a virtual component, and a lot of fun in store as the event grows each year. We hope you join us!
