A Look Back at Summer MLK Campers and the Aquidneck Community Table
There's a chill in the air, but these photos by Annie Tuthill might warm you up.
This summer, the MLK Center partnered with the Aquidneck Community Table (ACT) for gardening lessons. At the community garden instructors taught campers how to start and take care of a garden. Children practiced in the MLK garden box which is used to grow food for our pantry. They also gave students seeds to take home to plant and let them pick blackberries and raspberries from the garden to take for a snack. Thank you ACT!
This program gives students the opportunity to practice their skills. The MLK is offering this program free-of-charge for participants.
Space is very limited. For day and time options and to register please contact Mel Saunders at: MSaunders@MLKCCenter.org or call 401-846-4828 ext.124
In The Pantry Pasta, Sauce, and Puns
We all know there is nothing more delicious than fresh, homemade pasta sauce, but now that the growing season for local tomatoes is over and after school is a busy time for parents, the pantry could sure use ready made sauces. All varieties are welcome including tomato, alfredo, pesto, and more. Please also consider looking for packaging that could be easy to open for those that need it such as boxed sauces, pop top lids, etc.
We welcome donations
Monday – Friday
Between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
For speediest drop-offs, Tuesdays and Thursdays are best.
Pastas of all varieties are always welcome at the pantry and are in great need now. We'll be upsetti without any spaghetti! Can you make a donation today? Together, nothing is imPASTAble!
Another favorite at the pantry is boxed macaroni and cheese. This quick meal is perfect for children and adults alike.
If noodles be the food of love, cheese on! If you have great pasta puns, we would love to hear them. We'll post great jokes in the pantry for all to enjoy. Please email them to Kim at KBotelho@MLKCCenter.org
