Proud parents, grandparents and siblings showed up in full force on June 24, for this exciting day. Each child received a memory book – our version of a yearbook – that included self-portraits made by each child.
As you can see, the children were so excited for their special day!
Parents also received a portfolio of their child’s work that included samples of their writing and artwork, an assessment of their social and emotional development, and record of their cognitive growth to share with upcoming kindergarten teachers.

Here’s a Look at One of Our Camp Programs
Peaceful Warriors, Powered by Prince

Peaceful Warriors
This summer camp yoga and mindfulness program,
funded by
Powered by Prince
,
promotes the connection between the body, mind, and breath.
This class includes breathing exercises, stretches, a bilingual story time, calming music, and ends with a guided question and Wonder Box containing a secret item inside.
|
|
|
On June 29, campers were asked what they hoped to learn from yoga this summer. Some of the answers included:
I hope to learn to be more patient, I hope to learn to calm my body, and I hope to make new friends

MLK Earns Best of the Best!
|
|
|
We are excited to announce that the
RI Community Food Bank
awarded the MLK Community Center’s Hunger Services a
“Best of the Best”
Best Practices award for 2022.
The award, pictured with the Hunger Services Team, is in recognition of impressive practices and procedures that go above and beyond what the Food Bank requires of its members.
|
|
We received this award after reexamining how we perform our core mission of serving the public and providing services. During the pandemic, we made it a priority to reevaluate how we engage with clients and instituted changes that offer a more dignified, respectful, and accessible experience.
