Santa’s Workshop delivers toys to over 850 children!

We are grateful to be able to share the news that Santa’s Workshop has reached a staggering 850+ children for holiday toy distribution!

Even Santa needs help during the holiday season and the Center was here to assist!

Without the dedication of each and every volunteer who took on the role of Santa’s elves, we simply wouldn’t have been able to make this happen.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, employees, donors and you, over 850 children will now have toys for Christmas to make sure their holiday is as special, memorable as can be.

Each year, this program at the Center aims to put a smile on a child’s face through the magic of the holiday season–– something no child should have to go without. Thank you to all that have made this such a magical, memorable experience for everyone involved!

We’re hungry, let’s talk food: McGrath’s is catering our holiday lunch at the Center!

Who, what, where, why and when? No matter what your question is, we’ve got you covered right here! On Tuesday, December 21, McGrath’s Catering will be serving our friends and clients a hot, delicious meal for lunch! This lunch is open to anyone who would like to stop by for something warm (and delicious) to eat. Through December 22nd, Charter Books is running a “Giving Tree” book promotion to benefit the Center. The Giving Tree is decorated with tickets containing certain titles of books that will then be donated to the Center.

For each book purchased for the Center, you’ll receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win RENEGADES by Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen, with a vinyl LP from their podcast conversations.

FOOD PANTRY FEATURE: Diapers?! Yes, diapers!

Picture this –– it’s 3:00 a.m. and you wake up to your little one crying and they need to be changed… Oh no, there’s a huge problem… You’re completely OUT of diapers and just don’t know how you’re going to get more… Diapers can be very expensive and no child, mother, father or guardian should have to go without these essential childcare items. You can make a huge difference for the little ones supported through the Center by coming in and donating diapers

Sabores Latinos: Every Monday at 5 pm, Spanish speakers are invited to join Yoli and friends for Sabores Latinos, the MLK’s cooking class offered en Español. LivFit Cooking & Nutrition: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 pm. to approximately 6 pm. Participants explore healthy, low-cost recipes using ingredients commonly found in the food pantry. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, presented by the Bazarsky Family Foundation in partnership with the MLK Community Center, puts books into the hands and hearts of children all across Newport County. They partner with local communities to mail a hand-selected, age-appropriate, high-quality book each month to registered children from birth to age five, completely free of cost & regardless of family income. ¡El Taller de Papá Noel entrega juguetes a más de 850 niños!

¡Estamos agradecidos de poder compartir la noticia de que Santa’s Workshop ha llegado a más de 850 niños para la distribución de juguetes navideños!

¡Incluso Santa necesita ayuda durante la temporada navideña y el Centro estuvo aquí para ayudar!

Sin la dedicación de todos y cada uno de los voluntarios que asumieron el papel de los elfos de Santa, simplemente no hubiéramos podido hacer que esto sucediera.

Gracias a nuestros increíbles voluntarios, empleados, donantes y a usted, más de 850 niños ahora tendrán juguetes para Navidad para asegurarse de que sus vacaciones sean tan especiales y memorables como sea posible.

Cada año, este programa en el Centro tiene como objetivo poner una sonrisa en el rostro de un niño a través de la magia de la temporada navideña, algo sin lo que ningún niño debería tener que prescindir. ¡Gracias a todos los que han hecho de esta una experiencia tan mágica y memorable para todos los involucrados!
