Keeper of the Dream & Annual Meeting

Join us for our Annual Meeting as we announce changes to our Board of Trustees and present our 2022 Annual Report. We will also celebrate Keeper of the Dream, the highest honors the Center confers upon those whose commitment most embodies the ideals of Dr. King.
Meeting and ceremonies begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and mingling at 6:15 p.m. There is no cost to attend but registration is required.

Senior Lunch & Learn

On Wednesday, October 5 at 12:00 p.m., People's Credit Union will be leading our Senior Lunch & Learn program with some fun rounds of BINGO.
Both beef and vegetarian chili will be served for lunch along with cornbread, salad and apple crisp for dessert.
There is no charge for the program but you must register by contacting Mel Saunders at:

MLK Friends Lunch

Ready for another delicious Brazilian meal? Edmilson Andrade is returning and will prepare a flavorful mid-day feast for the MLK Friends Lunch on Friday, October 14 from 11:30 a.m - 1:00 p.m. This community meal is open to everyone and free-of-charge. Join us and bring your neighbor! First come, first served. Please use the Edward Street Entrance.

Flu Vaccine Clinic
Wednesday, October 5

On Wednesday, October 5, Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice will be providing flu vaccines for the community. Both standard and higher level doses will be available for those who require them. No appointment necessary. Just come to the MLK Community Center at 20 Marcus F. Wheatland Blvd in Newport. Bring your insurance card if you have one, but no one will be turned away.

In The Pantry
Pasta, Toiletries & Gluten-free Food

|
|
The pantry could use a wide variety of supplies this week including toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, etc.
Gluten-free foods are always in short supply and welcomed year round. Currently, we only have spaghetti on the shelves and could also use more varieties of pasta.
Please bring your donations to the temporary pantry, directly across the street from MLK.

We welcome donations Monday – Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
For speediest drop-offs, Tuesdays and Thursdays are best.
