Food 2 Friends: Food Delivery to our Home Bound Neighbors
Making a Big Impact
|
|
|
|
Food 2 Friends is a monthly service for our home bound neighbors who are elderly, disabled, physically unable to take public transportation, or otherwise unable to come to the MLK’s on-site food pantry. If you can’t make it to the pantry, the pantry will come to you if you qualify for the program.
The folks we serve in Food 2 Friends shop each month through a mail-in order form, and a volunteer shops for them and delivers their groceries to their doorstep.
If you would like to sign up, please contact Food 2 Friends Coordinator, Jose Ramos at jramos@MLKCCenter.org
or call (401) 846.4828 EXT 207

The MLK received this hand written note because of the impact Food 2 Friends had on their family. It warmed the hearts of our staff, so we want to share it:
Dear MLK Center; Mr. Ramos; and To Whom It May Concern,
First and foremost, I would like to say thank you! Your organization is one of a few that hasn't forgotten about senior citizens, even more so the seniors, like my mother, who can't go up and down stairs without a cane and who doesn't drive nor can she take the bus without assistance. Since my mom's heart attack, I moved back to help, fully! It was a month ago. She is on the road to recovery and doing a lot better. So this letter is to say thanks for bringing her food. I live in CT and got down once or twice a month and she doesn't have an aid which I'm hoping to rectify now that I'm here.
So, in closing thanks. I was here during Covid and everyone who works and volunteers for MLK is amazing - especially during that time when you came in vans and even had a separate van with pet supplies. You include everyone!
Also from a personal perspective, thanks for helping my mother.
