A Redesigned Newsletter

To Complement Our New Website

The newsletter not only looks a little different to complement the MLK's website, it also has some new content. Each week, as seen above in this edition, there will be a row of linked images to connect you directly to Hunger Services, Community Programs, and Education so you can quickly access the information you care about most. At the bottom of the newsletter you will find the mobile food pantry schedule and a downloadable monthly calendar.

As these newsletters are added to the website, they will also be available in Spanish and Portuguese in an effort to make these resources accessible to more people.

We'd love to hear from you! Please let us know what you think of the new design, if you have requests for types of content to include, or if you have any suggestions for improvement. Email Kim Botelho at KBotelho@MLKCCenter.org

Thanks to a generous friend, your donation can be doubled. For every dollar or pound of food you give, they will match it with another dollar. Help us meet the challenge by August 22, or sooner!

Last week the MLK received $3650 and 601 pounds of food. Just one week later and donations are up to $9163.41 and 6,040 pounds of food! Keep those donations coming.

Campers Tour The Mansions!

Thanks to The Preservation Society of Newport County

MLK campers had the opportunity to visit The Breakers and Rosecliff mansions over the past two weeks.

Campers enjoyed scavenger hunts and exploring the grounds of these beautiful estates.

Other highlights of the past week included a DIY lava lamp chemistry experiment, making rockets with NavSea and building bird feeders.

A Hole Family Feast
Don't Miss the Next MLK Friends Dinner

Thanks to the MLK's Executive Director, Heather Hole Strout and her extended family, a delicious feast of pasta with meatballs, garlic bread, salad and strawberries with angel food cake was served during the last MLK Friends Dinner on July 27th.

Mark your calendars now for the next dinner on August 31, at 5:30 pm. It is always the last Wednesday of the month and is open to everyone in the community. Free-of-charge while supplies last. Please use the Edward Street Entrance and bring your appetites.
